Delivery of Person Centred Care

The Alexandra Nursing Home is an 19th century Victorian building, which is nicely presented in an urban area on Queens Road – Alexandra Park, less than half a mile from Oldham town centre. The Alexandra is offering the best of both: We are close to convenient local amenities and we enjoy access to our impressive local surroundings, with Alexandra Park being the standout feature.

The home was established over 20 years ago and has since built up a strong reputation within the Oldham community.

Oldham has historically been famous for textiles and at its peak was the most productive cotton spinning mill town in the world, producing more cotton than France and Germany combined. Oldham’s textile industry fell into decline in the mid-20th century and the town’s last mill closed in 1998.

Culturally, Oldham has a lot to offer and is the home of Oldham Coliseum, which is one of the oldest theatres in Britain to still be operating today. Situated in the heart of Oldham town centre, it has seen performances from comedy greats such as Charlie Chaplin. Almost 25% of the borough lies within the magnificent Peak District National Park.

The Alexandra is very accessible by public transport, with several bus stops on Glodwick Road at the rear of the home and a 15-minute walk to Oldham Central tram station on Union Road.

Our Residents

The Alexandra Nursing Home is beautifully situated alongside Alexandra Park on Queens Road, which is easily accessible to our residents and relatives. Our well-appointed rooms at the front of the home overlook this magnificent view and there are several areas for residents and their relatives to sit to take in the views over Alexandra Park. The Alexandra has a dedicated outside seating area both at the front and rear of the home.

The Alexandra has the ability to look after people both under and over the age of 65 who have general residential, nursing or complex nursing care needs. Whether you are looking for short term or long-term care, The Alexandra has the flexibility to accommodate for both and we often look after people who come for a short-term period of respite or convalescence care. You might need this because you recently had an operation and need a period of recovery, or some adjustments are being made to your house which means that you need to be elsewhere for a little while.

The Alexandra is a homely, intimate, and quirky home with a capacity of 34 rooms spread over 3 floors. The Alexandra benefits from a layout with wide corridors, single rooms mostly with an en-suite toilet and/or wet room, several communal lounges and a main dining room.

The Alexandra has Wi-Fi signal throughout the home which can be accessed by our residents who would like to ‘browse the internet’, be active on social media or communicate with their beloved ones via video call.
